2022 Summer (Adult) Cooling Centre Greeter - Richmond Public Library 
All Branches

Description

The library is looking for volunteers to help greet people if we are activated as a Cooling Centre. As a designated Cooling Centre, Richmond Public Library would extend our hours of operation in an extreme heat situation. The primary focus is to ensure that our community members, specifically vulnerable and high-risk populations, are provided with a climate controlled, clean-air space to reduce negative consequences and health impacts. This volunteer position will support library staff.



Come and help us welcome people at one of our library branches! Here are the details:

Weekday shifts: 9:00pm - 11:00pm

Weekend shifts: 5:00pm - 11:00pm

Location: Brighouse Branch, Cambie Branch, Ironwood Branch, and Steveston Branch



Specific Tasks:
* Volunteers will staff the welcome table and welcome/connect with customers as they enter the Cooling Centre
* Volunteers will guide customers to library staff for questions regarding resources and services



Qualifications:

* Adults only (18+)

* Good communication skills

* Friendly manner

* Available on short notice
