2020 Winter (Adults) Tech Buddies - Richmond Public Library

Responsibilities and Activities
Tech Buddies Volunteers deliver weekly technology assistance sessions for seniors aged 55+ at seniors' facilities in Richmond. Volunteers provide peer one-on-one help with common devices, including tablets, phones, eReaders, and laptops. This program is offered on a weekly basis between January - March, and is open to volunteers who are 50+. Each session is facilitated by a team of 2-4 volunteers.

Specific Tasks:
As part of a team of 2-4 volunteers, deliver one-on-one instructional sessions on a variety of devices to older adults once a week.
Offer advice and guidance to older adults in a patient and friendly manner, and corresponding with their needs, interests, and skill levels.
Set up and take down equipment and supplies for each session, as needed.

Skills Required:
Strong technology skills and experience using laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and/or eReaders
Flexibility and strong problem-solving skills
Experience instructing individuals in one-on-one or small group settings is an asset
Additional languages are an asset.

A mandatory orientation is required for all volunteers.
