Climate Action Awareness Volunteer 
City of Richmond Environmental Sustainability Team

Description

Purpose of the position:
Promote awareness of the City of Richmond's actions to date on climate change, and encourage participation in the development of the City's new climate action plan.

Responsibilities and Activities:
Staffing public engagement booth during development of the City of Richmond's new Climate Energy and Emissions Plan (CEEP).

Date/ Time of the event or activity:
Various events between April and December 2019:

- April 17, 2019 Capital Projects Open House

- May 11, 2019 Public Works Open House

- June 23, 2019 Flagship "Ideas Fair" Event

- July 7, 2019 LIEC Open House

- July 20, 2019 Small Steps/Giant Leaps Event

- July 27-28, 2019 Maritime Festival

- August 10, 2019 Farm Festival

- August 30-31, 2019 Richmond World Festival

Site location:
Various locations in Richmond.

Working conditions:
Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors at events.

Benefits to the volunteer:
Experience in promoting climate action awareness and building connections.

Additional information about the position: Volunteers will be provided with free food and refreshments while on site at events.

Personal traits/qualities desired:
Friendly, Personable, Enthusiastic, Environmentally aware

Languages:
Conversational English. Chinese or Punjabi is an asset.

Training required for this position:
Brief overview of Sustainability will be provided along with the information volunteers are to share with the public.

Minimum Time Commitment expected: Able to volunteer for two events.
