Seniors Book Club Leader 
South Arm Older Adults Program

Description

This is an opportunity to bring together community each month while discussing an interesting book that has been read by community members.

Purpose of the position:
-build community
-engage the mind
-be a lifelong learner
-socialization

Responsibilities and Activities:
- The volunteer is in charge of selecting the book with the other members of the book club. - Picking up and dropping off the book club set at the local library.
- Prepare or print off questions from the internet for the book club members to discuss at the monthly meetings.

Date/ Time of the event or activity:
The 4th Wednesday of the month at 10am

Site location:
South Arm Community Association, Seniors Lounge

Working conditions:
-effective and empathic communication skills

Reports to: Shannon Keefe, the seniors coordinator

Benefits to the volunteer:
Free, Facility Pass 55+ at South Arm

Additional information about the position: The book club takes a break in the months of December, July and August.

- Kind, friendly and approachable personality
- Ability to maintain conversations
- Interested in reading and learning new things

Languages: English

Additional screening required for this position: Criminal Record Check

Training required for this position:
-review of facility and room
-organization of how the book club runs and background information

Minimum Time Commitment expected:
3 months
