Passionate Creative Art Team Volunteers Needed! 
All Branches

Description

Love your library? Share your creative talents in this new and exciting volunteer opportunity!

Working collaboratively with library staff and other Creative Art Team members, volunteers will create quality visual displays at Richmond Public Library branches (Brighouse, Steveston, Ironwood, and Cambie) for the library's programs, events, and services, and help make our library branches look warm and welcoming to diverse members of our community.

Specific Tasks:
As part of the team, and working together with library staff, volunteers will meet 1-2 times a month to design, create, and install quality visual displays (not merchandizing of collections) at library branches.
Volunteers will work within a predetermined budget for materials and supplies. Displays will include assets that the library currently has stored. As much as possible, materials used will be recyclable.

This position is ideal for volunteers aged 14+ who:
Have strong creative skills, such as crafting or design and would like to utilize their creative skills to contribute to the community
Can provide at least 5 examples of their work
Have sound judgement and ability to perform duties independently
Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and other volunteers
Are responsible, punctual and efficient

Volunteers must apply by Friday, November 30th, 2018.

Additional info: Volunteers should be able to commit to the team for a minimum of 3 months. Meeting times will be determined in relation to the library's seasonal calendar of events.

Volunteers must be able to lift up to 25lbs, and be able to stand during 2-3 hour shifts. Small ladders may be used.

An interview with examples of previous creative work will be required. An orientation is required for all volunteers. Library staff will be assigned at each branch to work with the team.
