Fire Safety Volunteer 
Richmond Fire Rescue

Description

Responsibilities & Activities:
To assist the Community Relations Officer & the Fire & Life Safety Educator during public events

Date/Time varies with the different public events throughout the City of Richmond

Working conditions:
Volunteer must have reasonable fitness to assist during the set-up, the activity & the take down. Willing to stand for the duration of their shift. Willing to be outdoors, potentially on their knees or seated while interacting with children & families

Skills, experience, abilities required:
Proven ability to handle multiple tasks & priorities in a very busy environment

Ability to work cohesively as part of a team & follow directions

Excellent communication & organizational skills

Strong interpersonal & problem solving abilities

Ability to lift 50 lbs & be reasonably fit to assist during set-up & take down

Previous coaching/mentoring or community volunteer experience an asset

First-aid experience, Firefighting education and/or experience an asset

Personal traits/qualities desired:

Enjoy working with people

Be energetic, enthusiastic, & reliable

Consistently offer professional, friendly & engaging service

Able to follow directions well & have a strong work ethic

Understand how to engage young children & adults

Education/ Qualifications required:
Completion of grade 12 secondary school

Languages:
Ability to speak multiple languages an asset
