Children Dance Program Assistant (January to March 2020)

Description

Purpose of the position:
Assist participant who requires American Sign Language (ASL) translation to participate in a recreational dance program

Responsibilities and Activities:
Assist participant who requires American Sign Language (ASL) translation to actively participate in a recreational dance program. The volunteer will work alongside with a ballet instructor.

Date/ Time of the event or activity:
Mondays January 13 March 9, 2020
11:35 AM to 12:20 PM

Site location: West Richmond Community Centre

Working conditions:
Indoor

Benefits to the volunteer:
Help participant who requires American Sign Language (ASL) translation have a postive and rewarding experience in a recreational dance program. We could provide a letter of reference for successful completion of volunteering in this program

Additional information about the position:

The volunteer must be able to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL)

This is one on one work in a group setting.

ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER:

Skills, experience, abilities required:
Experience working and communicating with children who have a disability, and ability to work in a group setting under the direction of an instructor.

Personal traits/qualities desired:
Caring, reliable, on time, patience, friendly, customer service skills

Languages: American Sign Language (ASL)

Additional info: SCREENING INTERVIEW AND POLICE INFORMATION CHECK CLEARANCE ARE REQUIRED BEFORE PLACEMENTS

Minimum Time Commitment expected:
One hour each Monday from Jan.13 to March 09, 2020
