Description

Richmond's Canada 150, a multi-faceted, year-long celebration, ignites the passions of the citizens of Richmond, honours Richmond's distinct and vibrant cultural diversity, and leaves lasting legacies that foster civic pride and carry the spirit of 150 into the future.

Volunteers will be needed to help plan and implement various activities and events throughout the City. The City and the volunteers will also work with a broad range of community organizations to promote their participation in the Canada 150 celebration.

Gulf of Georgia Tour Guide Volunteer 
Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society

Description

Become a part of our interpretation team and work independently or as part of a team to lead guided tours of the Gulf of Georgia Cannery. Tour guides facilitate visitor experience by providing information and answering questions about the history of West Coast fishing industry, salmon canning, and herring processing. This role will require additional training and commitment of one regular shift per week with some flexibility.

Additional info: Training and orientation is required.

Pioneer Luncheon on May 27 (Saturday) at City Hall Plaza

Description

The Pioneer Luncheon is a signature event taking place on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the north plaza at Richmond City Hall. It is part of the City’s Richmond Canada 150 program.

The Pioneer Luncheon event aims to recognize and celebrate the contributions of current or former citizens who spent 50 or more years living in Richmond and who have helped to shape our community

This free event will include a catered lunch and live entertainment featuring a combination of programmed stage performances, roving entertainment and interactive displays and activities.

Mature and responsible volunteers will be needed to support the mentioned areas and schedules of various duties will be available closer to the event. All interested volunteers are required to attend a orientation (date to be announced soon)

Ships to Shore: King of the Sea 
Ships to Shore King of the Sea

Description

A highlight of the May Ships to Shore event will be the visit of the majestic tall ship Kaiwo Maru from Japan, along with a free multi-day festival at Garry Point Park. The ship will be here from May 3-8, with events running from May 5-7.

We are seeking skilled, personable and enthusiastic volunteers for the Ships to Shore King of the Sea event to be held at Garry Point Park, Richmond, BC.

We will need volunteers for the following areas on each day:

Volunteer check-in tent
Crowd Control
Dock Entrance/Exit
Dock Safety
Information Booth/Lost and Found
etc.
