Description

Thompson Community Centre is seeking Board Members starting in January 2022.

The purpose of the Board position is to manage the affairs of the Thompson Community Association in accordance with its Constitution, Bylaws and the Society Act and be morally and legally responsible for all its activities.

Responsibilities
Provides quality programs, facilities and services to the community
Works cooperatively with City of Richmond departments and other Richmond Community Associations
Keeps abreast to the changing needs and demographics of the community and relate this to programs and services offered by the Association

Qualifications
Passionate about Thompson's community and able to work in a team

Time Committment
One board meeting a month
One Annual General Meeting
6 meetings per year as a member of one of the Board's Committees or Sub Committees
Assist at Thompson Special Events
Other general duties as required

Committee Member - Thompson Community Association - Multiple Positions 
Thompson Community Centre

Description

Thompson Community Association is seeking Committee Memebers for the following Committees:

Children's Committee
We value the input of families whose children are actively involved in our Preschool and various other programs including Sports and Recreation, Dance programs, and Camps . We are seeking community members such as yourself to become more engaged in issues; working together to foster a resilient community.

Fitness Committee
Working cooperatively with City staff, provides direction to the Fitness Coordinator for all aspects of the Fitness Centre and Fitness programs offered by the Association.

Special Events Committee
Develops ideas for special events that meet community needs and expectationsCarried out long term planning for special events
Develops partnerships with other community organizations for special events
Reviews the annual calendar of events
Provides ideas for making special events more accessible, interesting, educational
Conducts an annual special event planning session to evaluate the events of the past year and make plans for the coming year including budgeting
Works with City staff to create and distribute public service announcements, media releases, posters, flyers, promotional material, web updates and any other marketing for special events

Senior's Committee
Thompson's Senior's advisory Committee meets once every other month. If you are over the age of 55, and you would like to have a say in your community and community programs WE NEED YOU! No idea is a bad idea, we encourage you to please come to one of our meetings and see for yourself what you can help accomplish, and how it feels to volunteer within your community!

Youth Committee

Our Association values the input of youth and their ideas on youth matters directly impacting the centre. Preference is for a youth currently a regular participant in our programs and events and in Grades 9 -10.

Marketing Committee
Acts as a resource for and develops the overall marketing strategy
Integrates Association marketing with those of the City
Re-evaluates and updates marketing and social media policies and procedures
Provides leadership and ideas for marketing to reach target audience based on community demographics
Sets priorities for marketing efforts and evaluates an annual marketing plan

Time Committment
A one-year committment
Five to six meetings as required (approx. 2 hours)

Fall 2021 - Friday Night Youth Programs 
Thompson Community Centre

Description

Thompson Community Centre is looking for volunteers to assist with Fall 2021 Youth Programs on Friday Nights.



Responsibilities and Activities:

- Assist the instructors to ensure a safe learning environment for all participants.

- Participate in activities, demonstrations and games with the participants.

- Assist in maintaining drop in structure and flow of program.

- Assist with set up and take down of equipment, activities, and games.



Date and Times:

Preteen Hangout (9-12yrs)

October 29th-Devember 17th, 4:00-5:30pm



Youth Hangout (13-18yrs)

October 15th-December 17th, 6:00-8:30pm



Gym Supervisor Volleyball & Basketball

October 15th-December 17th, 6:00-8:00pm



Additional Information:

Volunteers will be working in active sports programs and must be physically able to participate.



A Police Information Check will be required.

Date and Times:
Volleyball (9-12yrs)
- Set #2 October 22-November 19, 3:30-4:30pm
- Set #3 November 26-December 17, 3:30-4:30pm



Floor Hockey (9-12yrs)

- Set #2 October 22-November 19, 4:45-5:45pm
- Set #3 November 26-December 17, 4:45-5:45pm

Responsibilities and Activities:
- Assist the Sport instructors to ensure a safe learning environment for all participants.
- Participates in drills, demonstrations and games with the participants.
- Assist in maintaining class structure and flow of program plan.
- Assist with set up and take down of equipment, activities, games, and drills.


Additional Information:
Volunteers will be working in active sports programs and must be physically able to participate. Experience playing sports is preferred but not mandatory.

A Police Information Check will be required.

Description


Richmond Youth Basketball League is looking for volunteer scorekeepers for the during Fall/Winter 2021/22 League


The commitment level is as follows:
Saturdays
(Oct 16 - Feb 6th)
Shifts time slots
10am-1115am
1115am-115pm
*May choose between either or both shifts.

Training will be provided.

Description

The Youth Committee works cooperatively with City staff and the Association Youth Development Coordinator in the development, planning and evaluation of youth services and events in the Thompson. Area.

Responsibilities
* Encourages promotion of youth leadership
* Advocates for youth in and around the community
* Evaluates programs, events and services
* Reviews events
* Brainstorms new program ideas seasonally
* Considers and provides input to youth-led initiatives as they arise
* Maintains written records of the meetings and activities of the Committee
* Provides suggestions for youth-specific promotions and target audiences based on community knowledge.

Additional Information
* Passionate about youth and able to work in a team environment
* Must complete a Police Information Check and an interview
* Must attend all Thompson youth events and committee meetings
