As a volunteer with Steveston Day Camps you will have the opportunity to develop and enhance your skills as a leader and have a blast doing it! Volunteers will work directly with our campers under the supervision of our staff. Volunteers will assist with the facilitation and leadership of camp activities and will be given the opportunities to lead some activities on their own. Volunteers have a passion for working with children and have experience working with young people.

Volunteer opportunities are available for individuals who are able to commit to two full weeks and volunteers are expected to be available for a full camp day (8:30am - 3:30pm). A full week of volunteer service means that volunteers receive 35 hours that they can put towards the volunteer hour requirement to receive their secondary school diploma or applying for a future camp leader position.

If you are looking for a fun and rewarding volunteer placement that will provide you with memorable experiences, look no further! Steveston Day Camps accepts volunteers ages 14+ (entering grade 9 in September) who are passionate and ready to contribute (and learn) about the unique benefits of working with children and preteens.

Once you have signed up you will receive by email a volunteer application. The volunteer coordinator will contact applicants for an interview and successful candidates will be required to attend City-wide Training at Thompson Community Centre on Saturday, June 23. There will also be an additional orientation/training session that is Steveston-specific in late June or early July.
