Volunteer Basketball Coach

Richmond Youth Basketball League is looking for volunteer basketball coaches for the 2023 Spring League Season. Duties would include planning and implementing skill development practices and coaching league games.

The commitment level is as follows:

Saturday Spring League @McMath
Grade 4/5 and 6/7 Co-ed Leagues
(April 22nd -June 10th)

Grade 4/5 - Session Time:1015am-1145am
Grade 6/7 - Session Time 1200pm-130pm

*You may choose between the two age groups.


Tuesday Spring League -Location: TBA
Grade 4/5
April 25th-June 6th
Session Time 715pm-845pm

Wednesday Spring League @Palmer Secondary
Grade 6/7
April 26th - June 7th
Session Time: 715pm-845pm




*Requested minimum time is 1.5 hours per week

*Criminal Record Check required

*Training will be provided

Richmond Youth Basketball League provides training opportunities and material for coaches throughout the entire season.

Description

Purpose of the position:
The Steveston Community Society & the City of Richmond are busy preparing for this year''s annual Steveston Salmon Festival. 2023 marks the festival's 76th anniversary & promises to be another great festival for families who come to enjoy the festivities on July 1. You can help make our event a tremendous success by volunteering as: Art Show support volunteers, Information Booth Volunteers, Children's Areas Assistants, Mascot Chaperones, Signage Set up, Volunteer Headquarters, Wayfinding, & more ..

Date/ Time of the event or activity:
July 1, 2023 (Saturday)

Site location (place, indoors/ outdoors etc.): TBD at a later date

Working conditions:
Outdoor: July 1
Shift 1: 8:30 am 1:30 pm
Shift 2 : 12:30 pm 5:30 pm

Only Volunteers who are 14 and up will be considered for this opportunity

Additional information about the position:

All participating volunteers will be required to attend in person volunteer orientation & training before the festival. Volunteers will be reporting to their location-specific supervisors who will be staff or leadership volunteers for the event. Dress appropriately for the weather & no open toed shoes allowed.

Good interpersonal skills & enjoy interacting with the public in a safe & appropriate manner are required.

Friendly & outgoing personality is desired. Conflict resolution skills are an asset.

English & second language would be an asset

All volunteers must have online profiles set up at the City volunteer website for due diligence & record keeping. Police Information check may be required for certain volunteer roles which work with the vulnerable sectors.

Besides the required volunteer orientation, on-site training will be provided for certain volunteer roles before the shift starts

Breaks, snacks, water & light lunch will be provided to all volunteers. Break times will be negotiated between the supervisors & the volunteers
